“Nora daddy is dead” said her sister Ada who was crying seriously on the phone. “Where are you? “Come home now “. Nora was dumbfounded, she couldn’t move or talk. She stood there just gazing with tears rolling down her cheek. Kelvin stood up and went to her “Babe what’s wrong”? she still could not say anything. Kelvin had to shake her “Nora What’s wrong”? Please take me home” she replied? Walking towards the door. Kelvin followed her and they both drove to her house. She rushed down from the car and ran straight inside the house. She found her mum on the floor crying. Nora went to sit beside her saying “Mummy please tell me it’s not true” But her mother replied saying “ Your daddy is dead oh God my life is finished”. That was the moment Kelvin knew what had happened. He was shocked and went to sit beside Nora as she was crying and shouting. In her words “So daddy did not get to see my results? Daddy I passed and I made you proud” She said while she was crying seriously. Nora’s dad had an accident on his way back home and died on the spot.

Later that day, Nora walked Kelvin to his car and said her goodbyes. That night, she cried all through the night because her dad was her best friend and he is no more to even see her get into the university.

One Month later,  Nora’s dad was buried and Kelvin was there for her till he went back to South Africa. Nora later gain admission into the university of Benin. School was tough for her because she only has a mum who have to also provide for her siblings.

On the other hand, Nora started having issues in her relationship with Kelvin. Kelvin started giving Nora the attitude she was afraid will happen. He hardly take her calls or return messages. Video calls reduced as they were no longer doing video calls like they use to. Until one day they had a conversation over the phone.

Hi Nora “Kelvin said”

“Hi Nora”? Since when did you start calling me Nora? What happened to Babe or baby? Nora asked.

Well is your name not Nora? At least respond first before you start nagging. Kelvin replied.

Me Nagging? What’s the problem Kelvin because for the past months now, you have been acting up. Did I do anything wrong? Nora asked.

Kelvin could not reply to her question and left her with “Anyways I will talk to you later, I have to go. Before Nora could say anything, he ended the call.

Nora was surprised at what he did.

“He is cheating or tired of the relationship but don’t know how to say it” Clara said( Clara is Nora’s roommate)

Nora I don’t understand how you will trust a guy who is not even in the same country with you. He has been acting up for months and you still think the relationship is serious Abi? You have rejected so many guys asking you out because of a guy who you don’t even know what he is doing outside the country.

My dear you better wise up. Clara said

I don’t even know what to think Clara. Kelvin is a very sweet guy, he sends me money in school and I’m very sure he loves me.

Maybe he is just going through some stuff but don’t know how to tell me. Nora replied.

Yes he is going through some stuff and that is another girl.

He has found someone who he loves so much and he can’t tell you because he doesn’t want to break your heart. Clara said.

You better wise up and start opening up to other guys because girl you are beautiful, intelligent with a banging body for that matter and you are here waiting for one guy? Okay o be waiting. Clara added.

Nora was confused and didn’t know what to think about what Clara said. She called him later but Kelvin didn’t pick or return her calls.She couldn’t sleep and she cried her eyes to sleep.

It was a Saturday Morning and that was Nora’s birthday. She had no big expectations for that day as she wished her dad was alive and to add to that, her relationship was not what it use to be. It was 6:30am and her phone rang.

Hello. Nora answered the phone with a sleepy eyes.

Happy birthday Nora. Said Rose( Rose is Nora’s very close friend)

Oh Rose it’s you? Nora replied

Nora had a little disappointment on her face as she was expecting Kelvin to be the first person to call or even leave a message but this year was different.

Haba you don’t have my number again? Of course it’s me. Said Rose

Sorry Jare, I didn’t look before taking the call, I’m still sleepy and besides I wasn’t expecting you to be the first person to call me. Nora replied.

So wait o who were you expecting sef? Rose Asked.

I thought it was Kelvin as he was the first to always call me on my birthdays or send a message. So I thought he was the one.Nora replied.

Oh Kelvin. Are you guys still having issues? Rose asked

Rose I seriously don’t know what’s wrong anymore. Kelvin has changed. He doesn’t call like before, he doesn’t pick or even return calls and each time I complain about it, he says I’m nagging and I should understand that he is busy. Nora replied.

Do you think he is cheating?Rose asked.

Well I don’t even want to think that because it will be heart breaking for me. Nora said with a teary voice.

Cmon babe don’t cry o. It’s your birthday and you have to be happy and thanking God for life. So don’t let anything stress you.

Besides, it’s still early and he will definitely call you so relax. Rose replied.

Alright if you say so. Anyways thank you for the birthday call, I appreciate. Nora replied.

They had a long chat and ended the call. Nora went on her kneels to pray, thanking God for a new year and made her birthday wish.

It was 12pm and no call or text from Kelvin. Nora will check her phone at every minute to see if she will get a message from him or if she missed his call but nothing from Kelvin. Nora was so sad and the moment she was about to dial his number, her roommate walked in with a birthday surprise for her.

Happy Birthday darling. Clara walked in with a cake and a gift bag.

Oh Clara thank you so much.Nora replied.

She cut her cake and they both drank the wine Clara came in with.

It was 5:30pm and still no call or text from Kelvin.

Babe Kelvin hasn’t called me. Nora said

Clara who was not even interested to have the Kelvin discussion. Girl I have told you to forget about this guy. He is not interested in this relationship anymore and he is showing you all the signs but you chose to ignore.Clara replied.
